So, what are the characters you would like to see at Himuragumi? What are the characters you would not like to see at Himuragumi, and why?
Make sure your suggestion has their full name, and I will add your suggestions to the list when LJ comes back up!

Fuji.
Definitely Fuji.
It'd be interesting to see how the player deals with having to play someone many times bigger than everyone else.
I mean, every step he makes leads to an earth tremor.
Imagine the amount of food he must consume.
So many questions one would ask of the giant!

I think it would be hard to work Fuji in permanently, but we've considered him before... And I think it might be fun to, down the road, have him appear in cameo.

... interesting indeed! ;D
Another character I'd like to see appear is Kanryuu.
I know, I know ... the appearance of such a character would be too disruptive ... but it would be interesting nonetheless, considering that he is cunning, has no morals, and has a bone to pick with almost everyone in the game.
After serving time in jail, he would have likely learnt how NOT to trust anyone ... except maybe Enishi.
Hmmm...

Actually, I would like to see Kanryuu, too...but probably much further down the line. Maybe when we begin to lack antagonists?
What about Houji? Perhaps the Meiji government mis-reported his suicide/death because they had Evil Purposes for him? There just isn't enough Houji Love.

... I prefer Houji to Kanryuu, because Houji's abilities remain untested.
Houji was a member of the Juppon Gatana, and Shishio mentioned something about Houji not being able to fight with his hand injured.
That implies Houji can fight.
But of course, Houji died, so there.
One reason (but not the only possible one) Kanryuu would re-emerge (or return) as a thorn on everybody's side is that the Meiji government has some use for him.
Houji was offered a chance to work for the government, but he was loyal to Shishio till the end.
Kanryuu, in my conspiracy theory, would have served in Houji's stead.

Really? Houji can fight? Well, you learn something new every day. That might be interesting to explore, certainly.
The thing about Houji's death is this...if I remember correctly, it was reported by Chou. I would behindume Chou got the information from Saitou, and Saitou -could- have just gotten the information from "the powers that be". If this were true, reports of Houji's death could have just been a cover-up, since no one saw him die?
Well, it's something to consider. We'd have to coordinate with all of the players of the remaining Juppongatana, to see how this would affect them, and get their input, but it might be something we could eventually explore, if we found someone interested...
Something which has been mentioned in pbehinding is allowing people to play ghosts. Unfortunately, this poses a lot of problems, since we'd have to make some very definite rules about how ghosts interact with the Himuragumi world.
For instance, I would adore it if someone wanted to play Hannya, but, I think we'd have to do an "opt-in" sort of deal, like...only characters who -wanted- to see ghosts would be able to see/talk to Hannya. This would severely limit how much that player would get to play. Plus, there is a problem with having an invisible person witnessing hidden events. For instance, if Hannya witnessed Anji kill someone, that isn't really fair, because there would be no way that Anji could have detected him. So, that sucks, and doesn't really work.
Anyway, this is all just conjecture and brainstorming!!!!

Well...... *shifts eyes* *looks sheepish* IwanttoplayIkumatsu/Matsuko.
I mean, I would like to play Ikumatsu. (Though by now, in game time, her name would have been changed to Matsuko.) I just need to get more information before it can happen.

Oh! Ikumatsu. And hey, her husband is dead so...she could be on the prowl! Chuckle.
The idea I get is that she lived a very different life after the war, and after they were married. If I remember correctly, Katsura/Kido didn't spend much time at home, not only because of his governmental duties, but...
Yup, you guessed it, he had a new geisha mistress!

Hm, I didn't know that, Bee!
And this is getting slightly off topic, but:
After his death, she shaved off her hair and became a nun, changing her name yet again... To something I cannot translate at the moment. (from my research lately, seems to have been a standard response of many widows. What can I say...)
But I believe she still stayed in the mansion Katsura had bought for her until her death at the age of 44 in 1886. (I know you were asking about this, veleda! But then lj died...)

Ah. Becoming a nun, nod. That doesn't sound too out of the ordinary, indeed.
As for Katsura/Kido having a geisha mistress, this is not particularly scandalous, and might have even been encouraged by Ikumatsu/Matsuko. A man of society would have had to kept a geisha or two for appearances. As a wife, Ikumatsu/Matsuko certainly couldn't have been expected to entertain anymore, and thus, it would have been necessary.
It would have only been considered wrong if Kido somehow neglected his duties towards his family/wife in favor of the geisha, which he might -have-. I don't have the information on that.

Add the fact that Kido's mistress was a friend of Matsuko's, so I don't imagine there were too many problems.
Then again, it's not like I know jack.

In the anime series, Anji looked like he felt something when Sagara Souzou manifested before Sanosuke.
This wasn't clear in the manga, though ...
As for Houji's death being possibly faked ... you do have a point there... however, the scene in Hell was pretty conclusive, since we do see Shishio, Yumi AND Houji together.
Of course, since the RPG does not have to follow the manga and/or anime series, I guess anything (reasonable) is fair game...

Ah! Too true. Well, what better way to keep an eye on your husband, I suppose, than to have one of your old friends perform the required role.
